Youssef El Idrissi is a cultural activist, DJ and VJ from Morocco. He holds a Masters degree in Cultural and Artistic Engineering and has worked as a cultural action manager or communication manager on many projects such as “l’flssafa f’zen9a” (philosophy in the street) in Casablanca and Think Tanger, a cultural organization that investigates the social and spatial issues of the city of Tangier. He co-founded the Murky Marduk project, dedicated to experimental electronic music, as well as the Kounaktif cultural platform, which works to democratise access to arts and culture and to forge social links through art.
The M [E/A]RGE project is a participatory research on “mental geographies” between Casablanca and Chefchaouen, a work of inquiry and analysis combining video art, stories and poetry.
The challenge of the project: to connect these 2 cities with different topologies, histories, urbanisations, one steeped in Spanish history, the other rather French. But also to find points of convergence, to understand how each citizen, artist and craftsperson approach, appropriate and represent space.
