Out of Frame

Dalal Mitwally is a multidisciplinary artist, convinced that the artist has a role in society. She has worked with several cultural institutions including MMAG Foundation, The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts and the British Council. She currently works at Al Balad Theater where she’s working on Baladk; Street Arts and Urban Festival and has previously managed Home Arts Homecoming, a performative arts program directed towards Syrian refugees in Jordan. She is currently a student pursuing her Bachelors in Arts & Culture at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

“Out of Frame” is a community art project that explores the complex relationship of minority groups with public space through the use of artistic interventions. By focusing on two neighbourhoods of Amman that’s home to numerous refugees, Dalal Mitwally wants to form a collective that aims to reclaim public space and be part of the identity of the city, a city from which they are marginalised. There will be meetings, exchange times and group events which will lead to the creation of several artistic interventions and a collective mural as well as a new cartographic map of the two neighbourhoods, giving space and voice to their stories.
