The second placement of the “Transmitting Stones” Thoulathy³ unfolded in the captivating landscapes that stretch between Algiers and the mythical Tassili n’Ajjer National Park in Algeria, offering an extraordinary artistic residency set in the lost cities of Sefare and Jabbaren. During this residency, participants shared inspiration, embracing the contrast between the bustling noise of the city and the serene silence of the desert. They immersed themselves in the contrasting aromas, experiencing the scents of the city juxtaposed with the enchanting perfumes of the desert.
The choice to venture into the harsh desert environment was motivated by a desire to unearth the participants’ inherent humanity and patience, pushing them beyond their comfort zones. By embracing this unforgiving terrain, they sought a deeper understanding of themselves while preparing to confront future challenges with newfound resilience. For the participating artists, this experience proved to be truly marvellous, endowing them with a profound appreciation for silence and providing a much-needed respite from their daily lives as creators. It enabled them to take a step back from the intensity of their artistic endeavours and gain rejuvenating, new perspectives.
Participants included individuals from “Transmitting Stones”, including Bernasconi Sandro, Rim Harrabi, and Mehenni Réda. They were joined by a talented group of artists, such as Ztella Boogieman (Algeria), Virus2020 (Tunisia), Giulia Dabala (Switzerland), and Soleil Noir (Switzerland).
This artistic residency is part of “Transmitting Stones” Thoulathy³, a collaboration between EL Moutanakil (Algeria 🇩🇿), Sailing Stones (Tunisia 🇹🇳), and Sable & Chaux (Switzerland 🇨🇭) implemented by L’art Rue and MiTost.
Photographs documenting the experience were captured by the participants of the artistic residency.
