Fig Leaf Studios’ team first connected with Art Everywhere years ago when the foundation was in its early stages, harbouring a vision for art cinema to extend its reach to pastures, villages, and cafes. We wholeheartedly supported this initial idea because it resonated with our own dream of ensuring that our films would reach diverse, mass audiences beyond the confines of elite and cultural circles, allowing cinema to fulfil its intended purpose.

The collaboration between Fig Leaf and Art Everywhere unfolded organically and without prior planning. The concept of forming an alliance between us arose through the All-Around Culture Project, transitioning from spontaneity to a well-organised and extended initiative. The discovery of the “Al Nahar Foundation” provided a broader and more expansive extension of our alliance, reaching areas where traditional cultural outreach had not ventured, and their unique cultures had yet to connect with Egyptian communities.

In the inaugural year, we confronted economic and legal challenges, dedicating efforts to develop our legal standing and administrative framework through consultations, community engagement, discussions, and mutual exchanges. This process significantly contributed to the alliance’s growth and deepened synergy in a more profound and professional manner. Workshops and presentations commenced, and successful and consistent management development carried into the second year. Our archival journey commenced, scheduled to extend until 2024, as detailed alongside additional workshops deemed necessary and beneficial for the ongoing development of our alliance.

Recognising the paramount importance of sustainable alliances and partnerships, we foresee the alliance remaining intertwined and continuing to collaborate on future projects in the years to come. The alliance has proven to be a stabilising force amidst unexpected and persistent economic volatility during this period, solidifying our belief that unity is the key to overcoming many challenges and obstacles.
