Reimagining photographic narratives

Beyn Collective, a youth-led initiative of the All-Around Culture programme, recently organized an exhibition titled “Strong Independent – Reimagining Photographic Narratives” in collaboration with Heba Khalifa, Lina Geoushy, and Najla Said.

The exhibition invites visitors to explore the concept of strength through a variety of visual narratives created by three female artists on their own inner journeys. Throughout the exhibition, visitors are prompted to reflect on their own understanding of strength. “What does strength mean to you? Is it important to portray strength on the outside, or is it more important to find sources of inner strength? Do our vulnerabilities strengthen or weaken us?” These are some of the questions that the exhibition seeks to address.

The artists behind the exhibition challenge the misconceptions and stereotypes surrounding the term “strong woman.” Rather than being boxed into a singular role, the exhibition celebrates the diverse ways in which women can be strong. It is a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, one that cultivate resilience and perseverance. The exhibition encourages visitors to find strength both within and around themselves, through movement and rest, recalling fantasies that have become like ghosts, and creating inner worlds that protect the soul. Ultimately, the exhibition offers a space for viewers to explore their own relationship with strength and vulnerability and to come away feeling inspired and empowered.
