Al Kasaba Theatre and Cinematheque is a leading cultural organization in Palestine established in 1974 in Jerusalem. Al Kasaba opened its venues in Ramallah in the year 2000 few months after the second Intifada. Since its inception, Al Kasaba produced tens of plays that participated in international festivals and performed on important stages in Asia, Europe and the USA. Al Kasaba productions were awarded in significant international and Arab festivals. in addition to theatre, Al Kasaba is also an Art House that screens films on a daily basis, it provides a variety of cultural activities for the audience around the week days.

Like many other organizations, Al Kasaba passed through a tough period due to a financial crisis caused by lack of funding. In 2018, Al Kasaba developed a new strategic plan that depends on diversifying sources of funding and buildings a financial sustainability plan depending on adopting the concept of creative industries which was key and a turning point in the organizations life. As part of adopting this principle, Al Kasaba opened the first and only cultural incubator in Palestine where it provides trainings, seed funding and mentorship for entrepreneur artists, organizations and initiatives.

Al Kasaba and the partners in “All-Around Cultures” project aim to increase the quality and quantity of cultural productions and reach out to areas where there is no cultural infrastructure, which is key to bring culture and cultural activities to those who deserve it most and contribute in creating a vibrant cultural scene in Palestine and fill the gap that exists in these areas. Building this coalition and partnership is key to achieve this very goal and contributes in joining efforts and forces to achieve the best outcomes desired which will multiply the results and reach out to bigger audiences.
