The virtual workshop of the Youth-Led Initiatives component was held on 6 and 7 April 2021, with the participation of 32 young creative individuals and entities from seven countries across the Arab region to kick-off the research phase. Discussions during the workshop included assessing the needs of the participating projects for an enhanced local impact, unpacking the collaborative aspects of each project and discussing ways for opening up new possible collaborations.
In the fall of 2020, L’Art Rue opened a call for applications for the research phase of the Youth-Led Cultural & Civic Initiatives . In total, 377 applications were received and 32 projects were selected to participate in the research phase. From April to December 2021, the 32 project leaders will benefit from a research grant as well as supervision from the L’Art Rue team to support them in the reflections and design of their project. The research phase will end with a collective meeting in Tunis in November, where participants will meet several experts and consider the production phase which will constitute a second phase for 24 projects selected out of the 32.
